Overview of Computer Application Packages

Computer Application Packages (CAP) is referred to as a ready made software designed to provide solutions for users in order to achieve related business or organisation’s goals. This software can be a generic software for all works of life or a professional software for a certain categories of people. CAP can be packaged as a single purpose software or a multiple purpose as a suite software.

Generic software are Word processors, spreadsheets, databases, graphics and presentation software are all examples of application packages. This is because everybody need to type document using word processor at one point or the other. In the same way, everybody also need to manage personal account or it likes using a spreadsheet and so on.

Application packages are generally designed to support commonly performed business functions and appeal to multiple types of user organizations. Although a package may be tailored to a user’s specific needs through parameters or tables, the software itself is not individualized to a given organization in the same way that custom-designed, custom-coded software would typically be tailored.

Meanwhile, professional packages is designed for certain categories of people. Examples are Corel Draw or Photoshop software used for graphic designs, Ultra Sound software use in the hospital, AutoCAD software used for engineering drawing, Sage software use by accountants and many more.
